Welcome
to our web site! The Edina High School Band program consists
of approximately 250 band students in grades 10, 11, and 12.
There are four high school concert bands: Concert Band,
Varsity Band, and two Symphonic Bands. All four bands form Edina
Hornet Marching Band in the fall.
There
are two extra-curricular jazz bands, three pep bands, and numerous
small ensembles. Many band students are actively involved as
pit orchestra members for musicals, as wind and percussion members
for the EHS Concert Orchestra, and as participants in Minnesota
State High School League Solo and Ensemble Contests. Concert
Band is the top-performing band at the high school and for
54 consecutive years has received a "Superior"
rating, the highest rating possible, at the MSHSL Contests.
The GRAMMY Foundation has announced 22 schools
nationwide that have been selected as GRAMMY Signature Schools
for 2007. Selected for outstanding commitment to their music
education programs as determined by a blue-ribbon panel of top
music educators and professionals, these schools are awarded
grants for their music departments. This year Edina High School
was among the top schools in the country, which gave it GRAMMY
Signature School status. In addition to this prestigious award,
the GRAMMY Foundation will present a $1000 grant to the school.
