Hello
The philosophy of the Edina Band program is to offer opportunities for all students, whether they are conservatory bound or just like to play for fun.
The high school band program consists of over 500 students from grades 9-12. There are numerous school concert bands, extra-curricular jazz bands, pep bands, and chamber ensembles. Students in grades 10-12 form the Edina “Hornet” Marching Band in the fall.
Band in the Edina School District starts in 5th grade and the grade 5-12 band staff meet regularly to discuss and support each level of the program and problem solve ways to help each student find success. From 5th grade recruitment nights to summer band experiences to bridging concerts with each middle school - the staff feels privileged to have opportunities to work collaboratively, both vertically and horizontally, to foster student success. The success of the program is not accidental but rather quite intentional due to the hard work and dedication of the band 5-12 band staff as well as an active parent booster organization and support from the community of Edina.
